Are you interested in astronomy? If so, and you live in the Nottingham area, you are welcome to come along to meetings of the Nottingham Astronomical Society.
We are a friendly group of amateur astronomers from all walks of life. You don't need any knowledge of astronomy to join us. 'Beginners' are always welcome.
We meet on the FIRST Thursday of each month (except August) at:
The British Geological Survey,
Nicker Hill,
Keyworth,
Nottingham NG12 5GG
Doors open at 7.30pm with the meeting starting at 8.00pm. The 'How to find our meetings' page gives more details of the location.
Most meetings include an illustrated talk by a guest speaker and admission is free to interested members of the public.
If you decide to join the society, full details are on the 'Membership fees' page.
The Nottingham Astronomical Society is grateful to the British Geological Survey for providing a well-equipped meeting room on a permanent basis for our meetings.
We encourage active observing and the society owns and operates an observatory near Cotgrave. This houses our 24 inch large reflector telescope, partly funded by a National Lottery 'Awards for All' grant. Members of the society are welcome to use the large telescope.
